A big "Happy Father's Day" greeting to all the dads, step-dads, and dads-to-be out there. Also, a big THANK YOU to Mike for being such a wonderful father to Henry.
Naturally, to celebrate Father's Day, the Powells made....a beehive cake!!!
What can we say? We love a good beehive cake! We did mix it up this time and make an almond cake instead of our usual lemon cake. We are craaaaaazy.
In other Powell news - Henry has now learned to climb up on the couch (getting down is another issue) and how to open doors (with lever handles). Both are developments that should make our life VERY interesting going forward!
His new favorite things to do are to open his dresser drawers and gleefully fling all of his clothing onto the floor, and then put it back. He also is still enjoying his new found skill of walking backwards (he is like a little Michael Jackson) and has recently become as obsessed with his hats as he is with his shoes, carrying them throughout the house. He definitely takes after me with his love of accessories.
As some of you may have seen, there is some transition going on at Mike's company with the CFO (and Mike's boss) leaving at the end of this month. This should mean an interesting (and busy) few months coming up for Mike - we shall see what happens.
For me, I just started my term on the executive board of the Brookline MOM'S club (today the Mom's club, tomorrow the world!!!) and have (shockingly) already started sending in applications for pre-schools. Even though Henry won't be starting until September 2010, apparently I am on the late side for this. Let me tell you, it is HARD to fill those applications out. They ask what Henry's interests are. Ummm...running around the house naked and eating his shoes? Can I put that on the application? Do you think it may hurt his chances? :)
