We headed to Cape Cod for the Memorial Day holiday. Mike once again excelled at picking a spectacular house for us to stay in - this time in Wellfleet. The house was wonderful, especially because it had a private beach on Gull Pond, in addition to being only a 2 minute trip to the nearest beach.
The house also had a private boardwalk path leading to a hiking trail - Henry LOVED it:
And a much adored wooden swing (many jumps were taken off of this swing:
Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative at first. Saturday and most of Sunday were FREEZING and raining. Not ideal beach weather. But we perservered - many board games were played, and we headed outside whenever it wasn't a downpour:
On Sunday afternoon the weather finally started to clear, and we headed out for a hike to Great Island:
Monday and Tuesday were perfect - 70 degrees and sunny. We basically filled the days with as many beaches and fried fish sandwiches as possible (photo overload!!!):
And threw in some canoeing:
Our final morning we spent at the house playing in the pond. Henry built an elabirate canal system, and Elliot learned not to eat sand:
(that last picture shows the face after he eats sand - priceless)
In spite of some bad weather, and the fact that Elliot apparently HATES his Pack N Play with a passion now, and screamed like a banshee anytime sleep was attempted (ever tried to put a cat into a bathtub full of water? It was kind of like that...) it was a great trip.
(Here is a photo by Henry):
We head back to the Cape in August, and can't wait!
