Happy New Year to everyone!
2010 was a wonderful year for us - we can only hope that 2011 can live up to its predecessor. We were able to take a lot of wonderful family trips (Florida - twice, including Disney World!, Maine, New York City, Illinois, Santa Barbara, and Vermont), spent a lot of time at playgrounds, swimming, at fairs, amusement parks, museums, orchards, and playing in the snow. We spent endless hours with good friends. Henry officially moved out of toddlerhood to "big kid" land - he turned 3, moved out of his crib, moved out of diapers, said goodbye to his loveys, got his first two wheel bike, and started preschool. I know next year will bring us even more wonderful adventures.
We spent a lot of New Year's Eve playing in the snow. It has been a very warm weekend (mid-40s!), so all the snow from the blizzard is melting, which makes for great snowman building snow. Mike was the artistic and architectural genius behind all of this:
Making snow angels:
Mike decided to build an impressive snow fort for Henry:
In the evening, Henry and Meredith had a joint "New Years Party" with our babysitters while Mike and I went out with our friends Robin and Alan for a delicious dinner (with way too much food and drinks). Post dinner, the adults enjoyed champagne:
And Wii MarioKart:
Before picking up the kids. Henry was in bed by 9:30, but Mike and I (barely) made it until midnight. Alas, we are still recovering today (if only Henry would learn the concept of sleeping in!), but it was well worth it.
We hope everyone had a wonderful New Year, and our best wishes for a happy and healthy 2011!
