We can't really believe it, but Henry is eight years old!!!!
His birthday, as usual, falls in the middle of spring break. So this morning, after our traditional early gift opening, we hopped in the car and headed for a trip to New York for the weekend.
Our first afternoon we checked into the hotel and headed right over to FAO Schwarz were Henry pooled his birthday money and selected his gift:
Then we met up with Aunt Gina for Henry's birthday dinner. Where does an 8 year old boy choose to go to dinner in all of New York City? Why Benihana, of course!
On Friday morning we head over to see the aircraft carrier/museum The Intrepid. Henry loved the anti aircraft weaponry...perhaps a bit too much:
We checked out the airplanes:
And then the Enterprise in the space shuttle pavilion. The kids were unimpressed with the miracle of space flight:
That afternoon we trekked out to Brooklyn to visit Aunt Gina, and on the subway the day caught up with Elliot:
Saturday we went to the Natural History Museum. The kids had just seen "Night at the Museum" which added a lot of excitement for them as we went around searching out the exhibits that were in the movie:
Then we spent the rest of the day in Central Park with Aunt Gina - at different playgrounds, the zoo, the carousel, and climbing every rock we could find:
And on Sunday it was back in the car to head home and get ready for school and work to start again on Monday. It was an excellent spring break/birthday trip!
