We headed back to our favorite toy store today for our traditional Santa visit. We all remember the tragedy of last year:
When Henry was Elliot's age he no longer screamed with Santa, but I had to sit with him for the pictures. Considering Elliot is a wee bit more...intense....about everything than Henry was I did not have high hopes for this year. I tried building it up for Elliot and talked about it a lot in the days leading up. When the day came he had a few tantrums that we were not seeing Santa RIGHT NOW. When the spectacular time finally arrived, he became instantly terrified upon entering the store and refused to see Santa. So, we took our time and built up our nerve. Henry did a very good big brother job of showing Elliot what to do, and finally...success!!
Of course, upon leaving Elliot had an epic tantrum that Santa did not give him the toy he had requested (A glittery pink princess castle puzzle he found in the store) RIGHT THEN. Henry said to me "Mom, I don't think you did a very good job of explaining to Elliot how Santa works". Ha!
