As we know, Henry is fast approaching the age of potty training. He has his little potty already, and he has some books about using the potty. We talk about it, and (miraculously) one day a few months ago he actually peed on the potty (that was a total fluke, though). That's about it - I am in no rush, to be honest.
However, the other night Henry suddenly announced he wanted underwear. He also announced that wanted to use the "big potty" instead of his little one. OK, so despite my extreme lack of desire to do any official potty training we wanted to encourage his interest. Off to Target we went where he got to pick out his new "big boy" underwear (Sesame Street, naturally) and his new potty ring.
When we got home he was SO excited. We put on his undies right away and he insisted on sitting on the big potty. He sat there happily for about 15 minutes, swinging his legs and announcing loudly "I'm a big boy! I'm peeing on the potty!" At one point he shut the door and asked for privacy. Very cute.
After a while, he hopped off the potty, pulled up his undies, and ran off to play. About, oh, maybe 5 seconds later he suddenly exclaimed, "MAMA! THERE'S WATER ON THE FLOOR!!!". You guessed it - it wasn't water.
Ah...I love 2 year olds.
Here are some pictures of him showing off his new undies (this was pair #3 for the afternoon, I believe. And for those of us who we are visiting shortly don't worry - we are not officially potty training and I promise he won't pee on your floor....maybe)
