Trick or treat!
Henry decided a while ago that he was going to be a knight for Halloween, so of course Elliot had to be a dragon! Unfortunately Elliot was NOT a fan of the headpiece, so it was tough to tell what he was most of the night. Oh well.
Elliot seemed fairly perplexed by the whole thing:
WE strated off at Henry's friend Julian's house for a Halloween party and dinner. The kids played a lot of games, like "wrap the mummy", and a Halloween scavenger hunt:
Then we headed out for trick or treating!
Henry basically sprinted ahead with his friends - I barely saw him. Elliot was VERY insistent on going to every door the big kids did, and then would race down the sidewalk to the next house. He had zero understanding of what he was doing, but had great fun while doing it!
Happy Halloween!

Halloween Party
Our annual kid's Halloween party switched location this year to our friend Robin's house, but it was as fun as always!
All the kids in their costumes:
Our knight and his dragon (who wouldn't wear his dragon head):
Ben and Elliot:
Elliot says "enough of this!":
Decorating cupcakes:
We also did a "haunted house" in the pantry (I'm so jealous they have a walk in pantry!) which was really fun. We made one of the boxes where you reach insude and feel things like "eyeballs" (skinned grapes) and "brains" (a wet sponge). That part of the haunted pantry completely freaked out Henry. Looks like a few more years until he is ready for a "real" haunted house!

Columbus Day Weekend 2013
For the long weekend we headed back to one of our favorite spots (especially in the fall) - Stowe, Vermont.
The house we rented was called Log Heaven and Henry LOVED staying in a "log cabin"
The back area had a huge field and hill for the kids to run around, woods for Henry to roam (He discovered a passion for traversing logs over streams), and a ski lift chair swing to sit in.
On Saturday we spent the morning at The Stowe Mountain Lodge enjoying their grounds. The kids played on the shuffleboard court:
Climbed rocks:
And Henry and Mike did the Apline Slide:
That evening we walked around downtown Stowe and Elliot enjoyed their jack-o-lantern display:
On Sunday we headed out for a hike:
Which was good because the rest of the weekend was pretty much filled with excessive eating.
On the drive home on Monday we stopped in Woodstock for a bit:
We can't wait to go back!
