Happy Halloween!

It was a busy, busy Halloween!

The weather was unbelievably beautiful today - 70 degrees if you can believe it! We spent the morning in the backyard attempting to rake, but it was also incredibly windy so as you can see we didn't get very far:

Henry had a grand time playing in the leaves:

And then relaxed with a nice outdoor PB&J:

This evening we went to a small Halloween party at Jake's house with his friends Lila and Bella. The kids did crafts:

Played:

and got into their costumes:

Then, the fun began. We all went to a local neighborhood where they close the streets off for trick-or-treating. To say that it was insane would be an understatement - Mike compared it to Mardi Gras. Hundreds and hundreds of kids jamming the streets and sidewalks. Every house decorated to the nines with people on their porches with giant bowls of candy. Henry had more fun with his glow stick than the actual trick-or-treating:

2.5 year check up

Henry had his 2.5 year check up this morning. Everything looks great and he is holding strong on his growth curve: 31 pounds, 9 ounces (70th percentile) and 37 inches (75th percentile.

We also got him the highly coveted H1N1 vaccine - our pediatrician just got them in yesterday and are almost all out already so we got lucky. He will need to have a booster for it at some point, but we need to wait until our pediatrician gets more in, and who knows when that will be. Let's just all keep our fingers crossed that the flu avoids our house!

Halloween Party #2

We are getting a lot of mileage out of Henry's costume this year (add in the fact that it was also Henry's costume last year and we are looking at $30 well spent!)

This afternoon Henry's daycare had a little Halloween party. I made cookies for everyone:

And all the kids got into their costumes:

Enjoyed their cookies:

Then went outside for a "costume parade" (otherwise known as running in circles):

And then had a "treasure hunt" and playtime in the backyard:

Halloween Party #1

Last Sunday my MOMS Club put on our annual Halloween Party/Silent Auction to benefit the children's programs at the Brookline Public Library. It was, as always, a lot of work to put together, but well worth it and was a great success. Henry was there with his friend Jake and they had a great time in their costumes, listening to the performers, eating lots of goodies, and generally running around like crazy people.

In their costumes:

The very impressive cake and cake pops my friend Sarah made:

Half-Birthday

Today Henry is officially halfway through his second year! (wait...I guess technically he is halfway through his 3rd year. Then when he turns 3 he will be starting his 4th year, right? Whatever - he is 2.5 today). Because I live by the motto "there's ALWAYS a reason for cake!" I decided to celebrate Henry's half-birthday with cupcakes and a balloon:

Tuesday Playgroup

Henry is involved in a great playgroup that meets every Tuesday afternoon. Some of his best friends are in it and Henry always has a complete ball running all around with them. Yesterday was our last outdoor playgroup of the season (curse you daylight savings!) and all the kids had a great time playing in the leaves:

The Little Things

It isn't hard to bring joy to a 2 year old. For example, when no one else is at the park so mom FINALLY lets you climb UP the slide:
