Sick

Our poor little guy is sick.

Since when I am sick all I want to do is lay on the couch and watch TV, I have decided to forgo our TV rules and let Henry do the same. The poor thing is motionless watching "Jack's Big Music Show".

Everyone please send their get well vibes to Henry so that he is well before our trip on Saturday! Last March we flew with a very sick little guy and it was not a fun experience - I am sure Henry does not want to repeat that.

Henry is 22 months old!

Henry is 22 months old today!! (whew - only 2 more of these until he is 2 and we start officially counting in only years!)

Here is a picture of him on this day last year:

And here is is today - with post-nap bedhead:

And in the tub:

Henry is now fluently using 2 and 3 word sentences (he is into labeling everything when we are out and about, so from the stroller all you hear is "Big red truck! Green coat! Train tracks! Yellow shoes!", etc etc etc.

His favorite phrase is "sit down". All you hear all day long is:

"Mama, sit down. Mama, sit down here. Mama, sit here floor. Mama, sit down NOW, here! Here! Please? Please? Please? NOW!"

This does make it difficult to get things done.

In addition to his train fixation, he now (oddly) has a fascination with fish. Much time is spent reading the first 3 pages of "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", as well as the one page of "Busy Town" that shows a fisherman and fish.

On Friday Henry and I head to Florida for a visit with Grandpa and Nene (and some much needed warm weather!). It is my first time flying alone with Henry, so everyone send good, easy flight vibes our way!

Warm Weather

It is amazing how relative the phrase "warm weather" can be depending on where you live and the time of year. In November anything under 50 degrees made me not want to leave the house. Today we were in the low to mid 40s and it felt positively spring-like. When you add in the fact that most of the snow has FINALLY melted, we decided to make it a playground day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This morning we joined Henry's friend Kate and went to the Boston Institute of Contemporary Art to see the Shepard Fairey exhibit - who is most commonly known these days for this:

The exhibit - and the rest of the museum - was very good. Henry was a pretty good museum-goer. He enjoyed naming the colors he saw in the art and pointing out shapes he knew, like stars.

He also was very excited by the two pictures of Obama that were included (plus seemed strangely drawn to a picture of Andy Warhol), and in another exhibit was mesmerized by a video of performance art that consisted of a woman opening and closing doors.

We all had lunch together before having Henry and Kate pose for some pictures:

Since it is Valentine's Day, Henry decided Kate needed a kiss:

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Congratulations!!!

A big congratulations to two of our good friends and their new baby boys!

Our friends Aly and Mike (Aly used to work with me years ago) welcomed baby boy Jack Jeffrey on January 21st (9 pounds, 6 ounces - future football player!)

Also, dear friends Erin and Roy (who went to college with me) welcomed baby boy Everett James on February 3rd. You can seem some seriously adorable baby pictures of Everett in his blog.

Congrats, and hooray for baby boys!

The good old days

I stumbled across this picture of me the other day and found it very amusing:

I think we can clearly see where Henry gets the "cheese face" (and crazy hair) from.

Sadly, those inner thigh fat bags are no longer as cute.

Fun at My Gym

Henry has been loving his weekly My Gym classes - considering that Boston has had twice the usual amount of snow so far this winter (and January was about 5 degrees colder on average than usual) this is the one time per week he can run around to his heart's content. He is keeping in shape for playground season!

Henry's Amaryllis

For Christmas gifts at Henry's daycare they had the kids plant amaryllis bulbs. Henry selected his particular bulb, planted it in the soil, and decorated the pot. At home he helped me water it and re-plant it (after an "incident" where he was left unsupervised near it). Now, it is blooming!

Nice job Henry.
